Human Resources / Payroll Associate

Jennie Diaz

Jennie is new to the nonprofit field. She was initially drawn to Community Initiatives when she discovered the wide variety of organizations it supports as a fiscal sponsor. She splits her time between supporting the Human Resources department and working on payroll.

Having previously worked as payroll manager among other responsibilities, she finds this work interesting as she genuinely enjoys working with numbers and intends to pursue a degree in accounting. The added bonus of working at a fiscal sponsor means she is exposed to the work of many different projects, and enjoys their presentations which provide her with the chance to see beyond the numbers to the work of the programs themselves. She particularly appreciates the work of the projects focused on kids as she finds they hit close to home.

Jennie also takes inspiration in the work of one of Community Initiative's fiscally sponsored projects, Latino Outdoors, as both a Hispanic person and someone who loves travel and exploring outdoor destinations. As an avid swimmer, her favorite locales include beaches, especially Half Moon Bay, and Hawaii, where she’s travelled twice. Closer to home, she likes to spend time on the Russian River. In fact, she loves water so much that “agua” was her daughter’s third word.

Complementing her spirit of exploration, she considers herself a foodie and makes a priority of investigating new restaurants and different cuisine. She is a big family person and loves being a mom.
