Announcing our new President & CEO

Ruth Williams, CEOThe Board of Directors of Community Initiatives is pleased to announce the selection of Ruth Williams as its new President and Chief Executive Officer. Ruth has served on the Board of Community Initiatives for nearly 8 years, and as Chairman of the Board since 2014.

Ruth was most recently Chief Operating Officer at the Osher Marin Jewish Community Center, an 11-acre campus visited by over 2,000 people daily. There she managed a 14-person leadership team and was responsible for 250 union and non-union employees in multiple programs and operations functions.

Prior to that, Ruth was West Coast Regional Director at Single Stop, a San Francisco organization that provides low income households with supportive goods and services including food, transportation, and housing assistance. She also held positions with the City and County of San Francisco, and has provided nonprofit consulting throughout her career.

We are thrilled that someone with so much history with our organization, and such a depth of experience in the nonprofit sector, will lead Community Initiatives into the next chapter. Ruth is a strong, team-focused leader with a deep passion for fiscal sponsorship and its ability to create change and enrich communities.

“I am grateful to both the Community Initiatives Board and staff for allowing me to continue to be a part of Community Initiatives in this new role. I am an ardent supporter of fiscal sponsorship and look forward to serving the partnering organizations of Community Initiatives and growing the impact and influence of Community Initiatives in the larger non-profit community. I will do my best to fulfill the vision of Community Initiatives and uphold its values of Empowerment, Integrity, Trust, Empathy, and Teamwork,” Ruth said.

Ruth’s official first day at Community Initiatives will be Monday, December 26, 2016. Until then, she will remain as Acting CEO, and after her tenure as CEO begins, we will also announce the new Board Chairman of Community Initiatives.

Please join us in welcoming Ruth Williams as the incoming CEO. We look forward to toasting Ruth, Community Initiatives, and all of our projects in the New Year.
Best regards,

Sarah Bacon
