Detailed policies and procedures are provided to our fiscally sponsored projects (FSPs) during orientation. The following provides some guidance on the fiscal sponsorship relationship.

2. Your Obligations To Community Initiatives


  • 10 percent of revenues as received (Model A)

Semi-annual Reports

  • Submit programmatic summaries by January 15 and July 15 of each year

Annual Budget Projections

  • Submit both income and expense projections
  • Projects need to maintain a minimum annual budget of $24,000 in order not to be billed a service fee of $200 per month.
  • Projects with employees must monitor cash flow so that they maintain enough funds to cover three months of payroll at all times. Failure to do so could result in employee layoffs.

Agreement to:

  • Maintain the project’s nonprofit purpose
  • Maintain an Advisory Committee of at least three people
  • Inform CI promptly of changes in contact information for Advisory Committee and Project Director
  • Alert CI promptly of potential risks (e.g., pending layoffs, litigation)
  • Alert CI immediately of accidents or incidents on the project
  • File grant reports in keeping with funders’ deadlines
  • Provide CI with all communication with funders (proposals, etc.)
  • Adhere to CI’s processes and procedures, including use of attribution and logo on website and project materials
  • Respond to CI requests in a timely manner
  • Submit contracts to CI for review and signature if Model A
  • Review monthly financial statements in a timely manner
  • Pay project expenses, including reimbursements, in a timely manner
  • Forward any individual donations received by the project to CI for deposit in a timely manner
  • Abide by the Sponsorship Policies
  • Attend an in-office on-boarding orientation and an exit interview should your project leave CI or terminate
